Newborn Photoshoot at Home in Dublin: What to Expect

A newborn photoshoot does not need to feel like a military operation. My sessions are designed to work around real newborn life — feeding, winding, changing, cuddling and the occasional complete refusal to cooperate.

When should you book a newborn photoshoot?

Many families get in touch during pregnancy, but it is also completely fine to contact me after your baby arrives. Newborn photographs can be beautiful at different ages; the feel of the session simply changes as babies become more alert and expressive.

Why photograph your baby at home?

Home sessions remove a lot of the pressure. You do not have to pack bottles, nappies, spare clothes and everything else into the car. I come to you and use the rooms and natural light that work best. The photographs also have a lovely sense of place because they show the beginning of your baby's life in the home you brought them back to.

What happens if the baby needs to feed?

We stop. There is no rush. Feeding and settling breaks are part of a newborn session, not an interruption to it. A calm baby and relaxed parents matter far more than sticking rigidly to a timetable.

Can siblings be included?

Absolutely. Older brothers and sisters are part of the story, and I keep their involvement short and natural rather than expecting a small child to perform for the camera for an hour. Parents are included too, even if you initially think you only want photographs of the baby.

What should everyone wear?

Simple, comfortable clothes in soft or neutral colours tend to photograph beautifully at home. You do not all need to match. The aim is for the photographs to feel like your family, just on a particularly good day.
